Halloween 2026, 2027 and 2028

Halloween is an annual observance every 31 October in Mexico. It is not an official holiday, but it is an increasingly popular festive event just before the more serious All Saints and All Souls Days at the start of November. Though it has modern roots in American popular culture, Halloween’s true origins are in centuries old Celtic and Christian traditions.

In 2026, Halloween falls on Saturday 31 October. The observance will be on Sunday 31 October in 2027.

In Mexico, Day of the Dead celebrations on the first two days of November get most of the focus, while 31 October gets less attention. Nonetheless, a kids holiday is held each year on that date. It is commonly called Day of the Witches, however, instead of Halloween.

Trick-or-treating has come to Mexico. Even though the holiday is called “Dia de las Brujas”, kids shout out “queremos (we love) Halloween!” as they ask for candy at each house they visit.

There are also many kids’ events on 31 October. You may see haunted houses, children’s Dia de las Brujas fiestas, and other events. But as most people are busy getting ready for Day of the Dead, “Halloween” does take a bit of a back seat in Mexico.
